Launch of Mental Health Foundation

Minister for Mental Health Kevin Humphries joined other community leaders to launch JewishCare’s Mental Health Foundation on 18 June.

The aim of the Foundation is to accept donations and bequests to ensure JewishCare will be able to meet the future mental health needs of the community.

Thanks to JCA and a private donor, JewishCare has been able to operate the community’s most extensive and effective mental health program providing ongoing support to 150 people each year.

JewishCare President Allan Vidor noted that effectively dealing with mental health requires partnerships between clients and various other organisations as well as private mental health practitioners. He pointed out the recent partnership between JewishCare and B’nai B’rith Retirement Villages (supported by a NSW government’s State Community Building grant) as well as the ongoing work with The Black Dog Institute. Michael Sluis from Black Dog Institute mentioned the close relationship between our two organisations and the value of JewishCare’s program in keeping people connected to their communities.
