We regularly post information about available community resources to assist aged people in the community.
This week we would like to introduce the My Aged Care website that has been established by the Australian Government to help people navigate the aged care system. The Gateway was designed to give people more choice, more control and easier access to a full range of aged care services.
My Aged Care provides a variety of aged care information but this week we would like to look at home help information provided by My Aged Care that may assist people to be able to better manage and continue living in their own homes. You may be interested in looking at the information provided by My Aged Care on one or more of the following topics:
-Social support and activities
-Counselling and support
-Staying physically active
-Goods and equipment
-Home maintenance and modifications
-End of life care at home
My Aged Care provides a useful tool that you can type your post code into locate specific services in your area.
My Aged Care also has a national contact centre. Together they can provide you with information on aged care, whether for yourself, a family member, friend or someone you're caring for. The contact centre can be phoned on 1800 200 422 between 8.00am and 8.00pm on weekdays and between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Saturdays.
