Weekly Wrap

JewishCare presents to Board of Deputies Plenum
Last week the CEO of JewishCare Claire Vernon presented to the Jewish Board of Deputies Plenum on Poverty and Disadvantage in the Jewish community.

Claire spoke about what JewishCare does to respond to these issues, while recognising that what we aim to do is supplement, what is on offer in the mainstream services and provide a specific Jewish response where appropriate. She told the plenum the types of practical assistance, case management and advocacy, skill development and community connection that JewishCare provides.

She also talked about how social disadvantage can be measured by a disconnection from the community and the importance of acceptance and inclusion.

The Board of Deputies represents over 60 constituent organisations within the Jewish community of NSW and holds monthly Plenums.

Donations and Bequests update
While JewishCare is grateful for the funding it receives from government, JCA and the Claims Conference which account for 78% of out annual funding we also rely on private donations.

In recent years there has been a increased propensity to direct donations to JewishCare during the Chagim.

This year donations in lieu of gifts for Rosh Hashana have increased significantly with many donors remarking on the excellent work our staff are doing in the community.

We wish to thank each person for their generosity in choosing to support JewishCare.
