Macular Degeneration (MD)

Macular Degeneration (MD) is the leading cause of blindness in Australia. The Macular Degeneration Foundation  reports that MD affects 1 in 7 Australians over the age of 50 , with the incidence increasing with age.

MD is responsible for 48% of severe vision loss in Australia.

A major factor in reducing risk is stopping smoking.

The video “Macular Degeneration: Prevention and Treatment” discusses risk factors and the range of possible treatments.
