Do You Care for or Assist a Family Member, Friend or Neighbour?

The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre provides support and assistance for carers.

Centres provides confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available locally, interstate or anywhere within Australia.

The Centres can also help arrange respite, when carers need to take a break from caring.
The Centres have over 30,000 service providers and over 100,000 related services - for further assistance, call 1800 052 222 to speak with your nearest Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre.

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre have resources available to assist when planning for emergencies.

The Emergency Care Plan is a useful resource for carers or family members or friends who are helping someone in the community.

The Emergency Care Plan provides people with a detailed list of emergency contacts, doctors, medications, care arrangements, services and health information so that any one has access to this list in case of emergency.

Fill it out yourself or with a carer. Place it on a fridge or a noticeboard. Let your friends and families know as well as your carers that you have an emergency plan.

R U OK? Day is today!


R U OK? Day is a national day of action dedicated to inspire all Australians to ask family, friends, neighbours and colleagues, ‘Are you ok?’
By regularly reaching out to one another and having open and honest conversations, we can all help build a more connected community and reduce our country’s high suicide rate.

Most people don't openly share their feelings, particularly if they're struggling.
The best thing we can all do is regularly talk to the people we care about - regardless of whether they are at risk - because connection is good for us all.

The Aged Case Work Team recommend the following resources which will help you to talk to someone or to tell someone that you are not ok.

The Hands Return

To coincide with the Opening of our new Community Centre in Woollahra we are planning to re-release 'the hands' that were such an identifiable part of the 2010 Capital Appeal which has enabled us to build Fischl House.

The 'hand car magnets' will be available early in October and they will be FREE.


The hands will be distributed in a number of ways:
  • Through the Jewish Day Schools. We are sending these out to be distributed in the first days of the new term, from October 10
  • Via a mailout to members, volunteers, donors and bequestors. Also Central Synagogue has kindly offerred to send these out to their constituents

The dream has become reality and a wonderful new facility that employs 16 people with a disability is now in place, just in time for one of the busiest times of the year, Rosh Hashana.

The Rosh Hashana gift sale that was held last week in the Community Lounge and in the Print35 Design Studio shop was hugely successful with sales more than triple last years level.
