Tango classes helping those experiencing mental health illnesses

Have you heard about the latest craze for those experiencing mental health illness in Argentina? Tango Dancing…

Tango Dancing seems synonymous with South American culture just like hamantashen is with Purim. Yet for those that face mental health illnesses up until recently, it has been a distant thought.

The tango classes allow for those to gradually leave their comfort zones. A number of the patients at the hospital do not experience regular physical contact. However, the tango embrace is paramount to the continuation of the lesson. The rhythm that tango incorporates is believed to be soothing for the patients at the hospital.
