The Jewish Circles of Support Project will be holding an information evening on 16th June for parents and other family members of children and adults living with a disability.
Circles of support involves a small number of people coming together regularly to provide support to a person with disability they care about. Ten families in the Jewish community have initiated a circle of support and have commented that the circle provides a framework for others to be involved in a structured way, helps them think laterally about issues in the person's life and creates a feeling of optimism about the future.
At the evening parents will hear about what a circle of support is, how it can be beneficial to a person with disability and their family and how the Circles Project can assist families to develop and sustain a circle of support. A number of family members who already have circles of support will be there to talk about their experiences and answer questions.
